DIGITS billing

$
0
0

Depending on how you use your DIGITS will play a part in how you're billed for your service. Use the details in each section to learn more.

Important: DIGITS supports 911 but calls & texts to 911 work best from your landline or primary cell phone/number & without using Wi-Fi; always provide your actual location & callback number to 911 operator; callback may be answered by others sharing your DIGITS line. Also, be aware that DIGITS may not receive Wireless Emergency Alerts issued by public agencies. See DIGITS Terms of Use for additional 911 information.

DIGITS App

  • Domestic roaming: Domestic roaming data usage has a 200MB cap. All apps requiring data will stop working, including the DIGITS app. Customers can still use the DIGITS app to see messages, voicemail and call histories, but no new information will come in and they won’t be able to use any of the DIGITS in the app. Once back into T-Mobile network coverage or Wi-Fi coverage the DIGITS app will start working again.
  • International roaming: The DIGITS app covers customers when roaming internationally. However, slower data speeds may cause intermittent issues. Calls and texts made from the DIGITS app follow the same rules as any cellular phone or text message made internationally.
  • Stateside International Talk & Text (SITT): Each line you use in the DIGITS app follows the rules of that line’s native device.  If you have SITT covered on one of your existing lines, it will be covered when using it in the DIGITS app.

DIGITS Talk & Text

  • Domestic roaming: No domestic roaming is provided
  • International roaming: All calls and text are billed at the standard international rates for Simple Global.
  • Stateside International Talk & Text (SITT): Calls to international destinations made from a DIGITS Talk & Text line are not included in the Family Stateside International Talk & Text feature. Standard per-minute rates apply for these calls. If customers make frequent calls to international destinations, recommend they use their main number, not the DIGITS line.

NT DIGITS Talk & Text

  • Domestic roaming: No domestic roaming is provided
  • International roaming: All calls and text are billed at standard international rates for Simple Global when using the DIGITS app to complete calls. The SIM provided is not usable for international roaming.

To manage users and devices assigned to a set of DIGITS, select that set of DIGITS from either the DIGITS I Can Use or Other DIGITS I Can Manage section.

  • Add a user: Click Add Myself or Add User.
  • Remove a user: Click Remove next to that user's name.
  • Remove a device: Click Remove next to the that device's name or number. You must be the owner of the DIGITS line to remove any devices that are using that line. When you remove a device, that device no longer has access to your DIGITS.

Corporate firewall

To use T-Mobile DIGITS on devices within a corporate network, your IT department may need to configure security policies or devices to permit DIGITS traffic. These settings are meant for IT professionals with specific knowledge of their corporate firewall, and familiarity with making changes to the firewall configuration. If you are not an IT professional, please pass this info along to your IT folks.

  1. Verify that all outbound proxy servers permit *.t-mobile.com.

  2. Ensure that the firewall permits the following network addresses and ports outbound to T-Mobile:

    • Destination networks
      • 66.94.0.0/19
      • 208.54.0.0/17
      • 208.54.128.0/19
    • TCP ports
      • 80
      • 443
      • 3030
      • 3478
      • 8080-8085
    • UDP ports
      • 500
      • high ports > 1024

If your firewall is configured as described above and your corporate network uses simple Network Address Translation, but you're still unable to use DIGITS devices behind the firewall, determine which network solution (SNAT, STUN, ICE, VoIP, or others) is appropriate for permitting UDP voice traffic (WebRTC/SIP) between the DIGITS device and T-Mobile in both directions. Stateful Network Address Translation devices aren't affected.

Use this document to learn more about DIGITS.

What is DIGITS?

  • Every number at T-Mobile is now a DIGITS number and this lets you use those numbers on virtually any compatible Internet-connected device.
  • For wearables, you don’t need a new number since your main number can be used with it.
  • Data with Paired DIGITS is a Mobile Internet plan that provides network access and uses the main phone’s number with it, rather than having a new number.

Put your mobile number on multiple devices

  • Data with paired DIGITS needs a second SIM (or device with embedded SIM) that can call and text like it's the main line, this includes the Apple Watch series 3!
  • DIGITS app provides access to the number from any Android 5.0/iOS 9 or later device with Internet access.
  • A PC or MAC with Internet can access the number through Chrome and Firefox browsers. Customers only need a microphone and speakers.
  • DIGITS can be shared with up to 5 other devices.

Put multiple numbers on your one device

DIGITS Talk & Text line provides a second set of DIGITS to call and text from. Here's how to access it:

  • Newer Samsung (GS8, GS7, GS6, Note5, Note8) and LG (G5) devices from T-Mobile have DIGITS built in!
  • Other devices just need to download the DIGITS app for Android or iOS.

Which DIGITS are right for me?

  • Most T-Mobile plans have DIGITS app and website access already included at no extra charge which allows access to an existing phone number on another device.
  • DIGITS Talk & Text plan allows you to use more than one number on the same device that's only accessible through DIGITS and doesn't need a SIM card! The number can be shared with up to five lines! Not available for Prepaid.
  • Non T-Mobile DIGITS Talk & Text plan provides a special version of DIGITS Talk & Text for non-T-Mobile customers. It uses an existing phone's data plan to send calls and text over the internet to the DIGITS app.
  • Data with paired DIGITS plan allows multiple devices to share the same phone number. There's a low speed data plan for wearables and a high speed plan if used on multiple smartphones. We even have one designed specifically for the Apple Watch series 3. Not available for Prepaid.

Start using DIGITS?

There's a couple things that need to be done before you can begin using DIGITS.

  1. Get a T-Mobile ID to make managing DIGITS easier.
  2. Enable Multiple Device Services in My T-Mobile or the T-Mobile app. The account owner needs to be set to the voice line for DIGITS to work properly.
  3. Plan specific steps:
    • DIGITS Talk & Text:Add yourself as a user through the MyDIGITS portal. If other people want to use the line, you must add their T-Mobile ID too.
    • Data with paired DIGITS: Pair to the primary line in the myDIGITS portal so the device knows which number it's a copy of.
    • Non T-Mobile DIGITS Talk & Text:
      • Link your T-Mobile ID to the number in the myDIGITS portal.
      • Download the DIGITS app and log in with your T-Mobile ID to begin calling and texting using your DIGITS Talk & Text number.
  4. Download and install the T-Mobile DIGITS app or visit webDIGITS.T-Mobile.com to access DIGITS.
  5. Unlock your device settings if your device has DIGITS built-in.
  6. If 911 Emergency Service is needed, calls or texts to 911 work best from your landline or primary cell phone number without using Wi-Fi. Always give the 911 operator your actual location and the number you can be called back at. Be aware that if the operator calls you back, it could be answered by anyone sharing your DIGITS line. Consult the DIGITS Terms of Use for more information.
  7. In addition, be aware that the DIGITS app may not receive Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) that are issued by authorized public agencies. DIGITS will not prevent a compatible T-Mobile phone that is connected to T-Mobile’s network from receiving WEA messages.

What do I do next?

Manage DIGITS users and pairings

$
0
0

With DIGITS, you control who can access them and how they work. Easily manage your settings in the DIGITS portal at https://mydigits.t-mobile.com!

Log in to manage DIGITS users and pairings

Before you can manage your DIGITS, you must log into the MyDIGITS portal.

  1. Choose how to log in:
    • If you're not logged into My T-Mobile, go to the MyDIGITS portal at https://mydigits.t-mobile.com/ and log in with your T-Mobile ID and password.
    • If you are already logged into My T-Mobile, click Phone, select the DIGITS line from the drop-down list, then click Manage DIGITS Settings.
  2. View the following sections:
    • The DIGITS I Can Use section lists the DIGITS available for use with your T-Mobile ID. This section also lists DIGITS associated with other T-Mobile IDs that you've been given permission to use.
    • The Other DIGITS I Can Manage section lists the DIGITS that you can manage with your T-Mobile ID, but don't currently have permission to use. DIGITS listed in this section aren't available to you when you sign in to the DIGITS app. However, the Primary Account Holder can manage, assign, or remove users and devices for DIGITS listed in this section. If you're a business account owner, visit T-Mobile For Business Support to set up your Primary Account Holder permissions before using myDIGITS.com to manage your DIGITS.

Choose who can use your DIGITS

Before you can use your DIGITS Talk & Text line, you must assign yourself as a user. You can also assign other T-Mobile ID's as users of any DIGITS, as long you don't have a Prepaid account. A text message is sent to the line you make a change on every time there is a change to DIGITS - this notifies the user that other parties can see all calls and message from those DIGITS.

Add user

  1. Log into the MyDIGITS portal and click on the desired DIGITS.
  2. Under DIGITS I can manage, click the DIGITS line that you want to set up.
  3. Click Add Myself.
  4. To add other T-Mobile IDs, click Add user. Enter the desired email address and click Send. Prepaid accounts cannot add other T-Mobile IDs.
  5. Click OK. Now you can access and use these DIGITS on DIGITS-capable devices, through the app, or on the web.

Remove user

  1. Log into the MyDIGITS portal and click on the desired DIGITS.
  2. Click Remove next to the desired email address. If you do not see the Remove icon, you do not have permissions to remove the user.
    • Users with a physical SIM linking their DIGITS to their T-Mobile ID can't be removed.
    • The owner of the account can remove all other users.
    • A specific user can always remove themselves.

Pair your Data with paired DIGITS

Data with paired DIGITS acts as a copy of your existing phone number. To let T-Mobile know which line to copy, you must pair the DIGITS line with the desired number.

  1. Log into the MyDIGITS portal and click on the desired Data with paired DIGITS line.
  2. Under Paired DIGITS, choose the desired primary line from the drop-down box and click Save.

Setup DIGITS with T-Mobile For Business

  • Because of how DIGITS works, you'll need to set up a Primary Account Holder before you can do the steps above.
  • If your employer assigns you T-Mobile DIGITS to use on your personal device, you will receive an email from your employer. Follow the link in that email to register for a T-Mobile ID if you don’t already have one. Once you have your T-Mobile ID set up, you can sign in to the DIGITS app and use your DIGITS.

Change Multiple Device Services (MDS)

To block or enable Multiple Device Services (MDS), follow these steps.

  1. Log into My T-Mobile or the T-Mobile app.
  2. Click Profile then select Multiple Devices.
  3. Click the switch to turn Multiple Device status on or off.
  4. Ensure all DIGITS line pairings are managed via the myDIGITS portal. Under no circumstance should DIGITS lines be linked under Profile > T-Mobile ID on myT-Mobile.com. This will cause issues with being able to manage or delete pairings through the myDIGITS portal.

  • Instant access: Advanced Messaging is available directly in your device's built-in messaging application.
  • No additional downloads needed: It has many of the features of downloadable apps, but uses the phone number you already have and nothing else.
  • Is typing: You can see when other participants are typing a message.
  • Read and Delivered: Not only do you know that your message was sent, you can see when the message is delivered and when it's read.
  • Support for richer multimedia: Send up to 10 MB worth of multimedia, such as photos, videos, and audio.

Manage Advanced Messaging preferences

Advanced Messaging comes enabled out of box. You don’t have to do anything to get started. To learn how to manage Advanced Messaging preferences, check out the Devices page for your device.

FAQs

What devices support Advanced Messaging?

You can check if a device has Advanced Messaging by visiting Tech specs> Connectivity for any device in Devices.

Do I need to do anything special to turn Advanced Messaging on?

All devices in a messaging conversation have to support T-Mobile Advanced Messaging. The Messages app on your device is either ready to go out of the box or is updated through a software update. The devices have to either be on the T-Mobile 4G LTE network (with VoLTE turned on) or using T-Mobile WiFi Calling.

Will Universal Profile 1.0 work across different carriers? If so, when will that support happen?

For now, this is something you can only get at T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge devices with the latest firmware. It's up to the other carriers to adopt the Universal Profile 1.0 standards so you can enjoy these next-gen messaging features across wireless providers.

Calling services

Learn about various calling services available to you as a T-Mobile customer.

411 directory assistance

411 directory assistance allows you to reach a live operator for directory assistance from your T-Mobile phone. To connect, dial 411 and send the call. Each 411 call costs up to $1.99 (plus talk time for Prepaid plans).

Things to keep in mind when using 411 directory assistance:

  • Three directory listings are included per call.
  • Using toll-free area codes to call 411 won't avoid the directory assistance charge.
  • International directory assistance isn't available.

Call forwarding

Call forwarding allows you to forward your incoming calls to another number. You can set it up to forward all your calls immediately. Or, you can set it up to forward if you don't answer the call, if your phone is turned off, or if you're out of signal range.

Be aware of the following when using call forwarding:

  • You can't forward calls to international numbers.
  • You can only forward calls to 10- or 11-digit numbers.
  • Forwarding while roaming depends on the host country's network capabilities.

For steps on call forwarding:

  1. Go to the Devices page.
  2. Select your phone.
  3. Scroll down to the How Tos section and select Calling & Contacts.
  4. Select Block and manage calls for your device.
  5. Follow the steps for setting up call forwarding for your device.

Call waiting

Call waiting and call hold are used together. If you receive an incoming call while you're on the phone, you hear a tone letting you know another call is coming in. If you answer the incoming call, the first call is automatically placed on hold. You can then switch between the calls, or join the calls using conference calling.

For Pay in Advance (Prepaid) plans, minutes are deducted for each incoming call when using call waiting.

Caller ID

Caller ID is a free service that lets you know who is calling by displaying their number on your phone. If the caller's contact information is stored in your phone, you see their name as well. Because of landline limitations, some numbers may not display on Caller ID.

If you have a landline phone, you most likely have Enhanced Landline Caller ID. If not, a combination of the caller's city, state, or "Wireless caller" and their mobile number appears on the caller ID.

Name ID

T-Mobile offers customers the ability to add the Name ID feature to your account. Name ID is a service that identifies calls from any caller–including the name, number, and location of the person that's calling–even if you don't have the caller's information stored in your phone. Name ID may also display one of the following categories to help you screen your incoming calls:

  • Charity Call― Call from non-profit companies with intent to inform or solicit information or money/donation.
  • Informational― Calls from a number meant to inform you of an already established business relationship transaction such as package delivery, appointment reminder, order confirmation, conferencing, etc.
  • Nuisance Likely― Calls from a likely nuisance caller not otherwise categorized.
  • Political Call― Calls with intent to pass a political message to the end user.
  • Prison/Jail― Call from a number known to be a Prison/Jail Facility.
  • Scam Likely― (Available alone with Scam ID) Calls from a caller identified as a likely scammer.
  • Survey Call― Call meant to collect data / opinions.
  • Telemarketing― Calls seeking to induce the purchase of a product or service.

Available on Android phones only, Name ID is included with T-Mobile ONE Plus and ONE Plus International plans. There's a small monthly fee for other plan types. You can add Name ID to your line by changing your services on My T-Mobile.

Name ID app

You can also use the Name ID service using the T-Mobile Name ID app (although it's not required), and it comes pre-installed on Android devices that support the app. Learn more about T-Mobile's Name ID app.

iPhone Name ID

iPhones may not display the phone number of the incoming caller or additional benefits from the Name ID app provides. It will usually display the name (as if the person would be in your address book) but may instead show Wireless Caller/unknown.

Service features

For a small monthly fee, you can add the Name ID+VM to Text or T-Mobile ONE Plus feature to your account.

Name ID+VM to Text feature

For an additional monthly fee, this feature provides both the Name ID and Voicemail to Text (VTT) services together, and it costs less than having the features separately. While Name ID lets you see the name and number of unblocked callers that aren't in your list of contacts, VTT delivers voicemail to your phone as a text message. This combined feature isn't available for Pay in Advance (Prepaid) accounts.

T-Mobile ONE Plus feature

If you have T-Mobile ONE, for an additional monthly fee, you can add this feature, which includes Visual Voicemail, Name ID, unlimited HD video streaming (US Only), 2X faster international data roaming speeds (256 kbps), and unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi on Gogo-enabled flights. While Name ID lets you see the name and number of unblocked callers that aren't in your list of contacts, Visual Voicemail delivers voicemails to your phone as a text message. This combined feature isn't available for Pay in Advance (Prepaid) accounts and excludes Smartphone Mobile HotSpot.

You can add any service feature to your line by changing your services on My T-Mobile.

How do I get T-Mobile ONE Military?

We'll need to verify your military status using the steps in the next section to get this plan.

  • If you are new to T-Mobile, you can call 1-800-TMOBILE or go to your nearest T-Mobile store to activate on T-Mobile ONE Military.
  • If you already have a T-Mobile account, you can dial 611 to contact Customer Service to change your plan to T-Mobile ONE Military.

Verify my military service status

If you've already signed up for T-Mobile ONE Military or are interested in adding it, you'll need to verify your military service status as active duty or veteran. You will have 45 days from activation to verify your military status or will be moved to T-Mobile ONE with no military discount which will result in a price increase of up to $20 per line.

If you sign up in-store, we can help you with verification on the spot (in some cases you will need documentation to complete verification). If you're making the change over the phone and still need to verify, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Head over to our military verification page at www.t-mobile.com/military/verification.

  2. Enter your T-Mobile Phone Number and Account PIN.
  3. Check the I'm not a robot box, then select Submit.
  4. Enter details into the required fields for the Military member. If the name field does not show the Military member's name and you cannot change it, you'll need to contact us to update the billing responsible party's name on your account and get this offer.

  5. Select Verify and Continue. Note: Active Duty & T-Mobile for Business customers (excluding Individual Sole Proprietor) will be required to upload additional documentation to verify eligibility.

Most customers will be verified immediately. In some cases, you may be asked to provide additional details to verify your eligibility (such as Active Duty & Business customers with account type "B"). If further information is required, you will be notified right away, and will need to upload documents confirming your military status to complete your verification. A confirmation of your validation status will be sent to you via email within 48 hours.

FAQs

Why does the Military person need to be the primary account holder? What if they are deployed?

To verify that the military member is on the account, they must be the primary account holder. This also protects them from fraudulent use of their name for the purpose of gaining military benefits (a name can only be used once for validation and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on this amazing deal!). In the case of active duty military members who are deployed, the military member’s spouse or family member may verify eligibility so the military member does not need to be the primary account holder, but additional documentation will be necessary to verify status.

What if I have a son/daughter that is serving in the military. Do I qualify for the plan?

If your son/daughter is active duty military, has a line on your account, and is either the authorized user or identified on your account at the line level you will be able to move to the T-Mobile ONE Military plan. When you verify your son/daughter’s military status using the steps above, you will be asked to upload his or her Active Duty documents.

What documents will be accepted to validate military status?

T-Mobile will accept numerous forms of verification, but the most common are DD214, leave and earnings statement, and orders. However, we accept documents that prove the customer is serving or has served with honorable discharge and displays their first and last name, valid dates, and/or status (for example veteran or active duty). Note: Please omit, cover up, or black out any sensitive information such as Social Security Number, Military ID Number, etc. Acceptable file formats are .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, or .pdf.

What does T-Mobile do with the information I submit to validate my military status/validation?

The information provided is used solely for validation of status and is destroyed after validation.

What if I need extra lines for my Tablets or Wearable devices?

If you need data-only lines for other connected devices, standard T-Mobile ONE for Tablets & Wearables and other Mobile Internet plans are available to add alongside your T-Mobile ONE Military voice lines.

How to use voicemail

$
0
0

Voicemail lets you retrieve and manage voice messages, and it's included with your T-Mobile plan.

You can find instructions below, or download the voicemail menu options (PDF; 49 KB). To use voicemail on My T-Mobile, make sure that you're registered and have the latest version of your web browser.

Set up your voicemail

  1. Press and hold the 1 on your device dial pad to call and connect to your voicemail.
  2. If prompted for a password the first time you access your new voicemail account, use the last four digits of your mobile number.
  3. When prompted, create a password. Your password can be any 4- to 7-digit code. A good password is one that’s easy for you to remember, but hard for others to guess.
  4. When prompted, record your greeting and name. Your voicemail is now ready to use.

Change your greeting

  1. Press and hold the 1 on your device's dial pad to call and connect to your voicemail.
  2. Press the * key to access the main menu.
  3. Press 3 to access the Greeting menu.
  4. Press 2 to record a new greeting. If you're replacing an existing greeting, the existing recording plays first.
  5. When prompted, record your greeting. Press the # key when you're done recording.
  6. Press 1 to set your recording as your voicemail greeting.

Check your messages

To check your voicemail messages, follow the steps below. (If you're traveling internationally, read our International roaming checklist to learn how to check your messages.)

From your device:

Press and hold the 1 key on your device's dial pad. Or call 123.

From My T-Mobile on your computer:

  1. Go to My T-Mobile and log in to your account.
  2. Click PHONE at the top of the page.
  3. Click Check Voicemail (it's located in the list of links along the right side of the page).
    • Click the play button to the left of the voicemail message. If you want to play all of your messages, select Play All.

    From a landline:

    1. Using a landline, call the mobile number.
    2. Interrupt the voicemail greeting by pressing the * key.
    3. When prompted, enter your voicemail password.
    4. Follow the menu prompts to check your voicemail messages.
Note: Any applicable landline long-distance fees are the responsibility of the account owner.

    Change your password

By default, you aren't asked for your password or PIN when checking your voicemail from your device. However, if you have your outgoing caller ID blocked, you're required to enter your password when you call your voicemail from your device. This step is for the security of your account, since the voicemail system doesn't recognize your mobile number when it's blocked. T-Mobile recommends that you turn on your voicemail password for added security. A good password is one that's easy for you to remember, but hard for others to guess.

From My T-Mobile on your computer

    1. Go to My T-Mobile and log in to your account.
    2. Select PHONE at the top of the page.
    3. Click Check Voicemail (it's located in the list of links along the right side of the page).
    4. Click Settings.
    5. Click PIN and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Using your device's dial pad

    1. Press and hold the 1 on your device's dial pad to call and connect to your voicemail.

    2. Press the * key to access the main menu.
    3. Press 5 to access the Password Security menu.
    4. To change your password, press the 1 key.

    Save or download a message

For T-Mobile ONE and other postpaid accounts:

You can log in to My T-Mobile to save voicemail to a computer as an MP3 file, or you can forward messages to an email address.

    For Pay in Advance accounts:

If you don't have an Android device with T-Mobile Visual Voicemail or an iPhone with the voicemail feature that came with it, you'll need to call your Voicemail regularly to resave the messages before they expire.

    T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app:

If you have an Android device, you can use the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app.

    • Forward individual voicemail messages to an email address or store them in a third-party cloud solution.
    • Save messages on the device memory/SD card as an AMR file.
    • Save the messages as MP3 files by downloading them from My T-Mobile to a computer.

Things to know about HD video

    • Activating HD video resolution only provides the ability to view higher resolution video streams by turning off video optimization. It doesn't change the actual, available resolution of streaming video. The video resolution isn't determined by T-Mobile, but rather it's determined by the video content provider (like YouTube or Netflix).
    • Once you turn it on, HD video streaming availability should take effect immediately, but it may require closing and re-opening the app or browser window, or restarting your device.
    • All on-network data used, including free streaming data, counts toward the heavy-user threshold of 50GB in a billing cycle, after which a T-Mobile-branded customer will no longer receive highest priority on the network. When an HD video is active, streaming high-definition video will use data much faster than optimized video, and brings up to the possibility of de-prioritization if you use enough data to reach that limit in a given month.
