I use nexus 4 (t-mobile/LG), a Google smart phone in US (New York). I stopped by my local t-mobile store (East Side, Manhattan) and asked how I could use my phone while staying in Germany and later in Japan. I was told by the two staff members there that as I turn on my phone after landing in Germany, the phone would automatically get the available connection and therefore I would be able to make/receive phone calls and texts, with extra costs. As for data, I could either use WiFi if available, OR just keep the data usage on, if I'm ok with paying $15 per 5 MB or something.
Just landed in Germany. No reception. No connection. Got to a hotel and using the room's WiFi service, but still can't make/receive phone and texts.
What were those t-mobile people saying?? They also told me that my phone doesn't need to be unlocked at all as it is definitely ready to be used wherever I go.
Just logged into my t-mobile account and yes, my plan comes with FREE worldwide calling.
Does anyone have any idea? Please help!
Thanks,
