What is T-Mobile going to do for the contract customers?

Hi, I have been with T-Mobile for years now since who knows how long. I am currently in a contract, started as of July 2012 for 2 years. So from what I know, these new simple plans for $50 a month include, Unlimited Talk, Unlimited Text, and Unlimited web with 500mb of high speed. I currently have a classic plan with similar services, except for 200mb...and I get charged an arm and a leg for going over...NOT unlimited. and I am paying more at around $53 or $54 a month...and on top of that I hear that I can no longer upgrade? My phone is paid in full.

I am a college student, so money isn't always the easiest. I have been with tmobile since I was 14 with their prepaid plans since that was all i could afford then lol. I opt for a contract this time hoping to be able to upgrade in the next two years, seeing that my current phone (crummy Samsung Gravity Smart) was my first smartphone and features seemed plenty for me. But the phone lacks power and is very buggy.

I feel like I have been just screwed over, and this seems pretty unfair. And to switch over, I would have to either pay an Early Termination Fee, or finish my contract. But I have paid my phone in full, like I said. Is there any way I can get out of my contract? I'm honestly not worried about not being able to upgrade, BUT i would like to be able to pay a more fair rate every month on my bill. I don't want to pay hundreds to kill this contract. If I have to, I guess I won't return to T-Mobile whenever I can get out of this "contract" (T-Mobile isn't fulfilling their part).
