Invalid Voicemail - New Customer

I haven't had voicemail since starting with Tmobile over a week ago.  When dialing into voicemail(1, 123) or from landline, it tells me to enter my 10 digit number and states that my number is invalid.  People calling me have no oppurtunity to leave a voicemail.

 

I called customer service about 5 times and haven't gotten anything from them yet.  Answer seems to be that voicemail is not active on my account.  One said it was system maintenance and assured me it would be fine when trying the following day.  The other took my name and number, stated they would call back in 2 hours when fixed.  Days later, still nothing.

 

Anyone encounter this?  What is the best way to approach technical support?  Hours of discussion and false promises and nothing yet?  Irritating part is that they make me turn on/off the phone, ask how many bars I have, dial 123 and enter my info over and over again.
