I just came back from the T-Mobile store where I wanted to pre-order an iPhone.
I was told that I'd have to pay a $400 ETF fee to get out of my existing contract, so that I can change over to the new UnCarrier no-contract Value plan, before I could pre-order the iPhone.
I currently have 2 lines on the older Unlimited Value plan (with Unlimited data) that I changed over to a little over a year ago... but when I joined it, I brought my own handsets (2 x HTC HD7's) - so I've never received any subsidies (I think I've only ever received a single handset in the 6 or 7 years I've been with T-Mobile)...
Why am I being made to stay in a contract (or pay an outrageous fee) which is IDENTICAL to the currently offered 'Contract Free' plans - having never received any hardware or subsidies? What am I contracted for? It's not to pay back any handsets... It's not to get any 'amazing' deals (hell, I could have gone to Simple Mobile or Straight Talk if it was 'cheaper' I was looking for)
This blows!
