Ripped Off By Store

I went into the T-Mobile store located at 66 Ogden Avenue Downers Grove, IL on the night of the 31st. I wanted to get on the monthly4g:

$30 month unlimited data web exclusive

After asking for a SIM, I clearley expressed this to the salesman (who happened to be the store manager), even making clear the terms of the plan (100 minutes, 5GB of 4G data and then 2G unlimited, unlimited messaging, $30/mo no contract). At that time I didn't know that it was a walmart exclusive. Apperently the salesman didn't know either and was quite confused. He did note to me that it was (as I knew) a 'web exclusive'. I knew this, however, I needed a phone (number) ASAP (because of this I had gone to the store to buy the SIM, insted of ordering online). My plan was to buy the SIM in the store then go activate it online. I asked the salesmen for the SIM then, and then asked if there was any way they could activate it in the store (so I could walk away with an active phone and only need to put the plan on it; I don't know about here but Movistar at least -my previous carrier- took up to a day to activate a SIM unless it was done in-store). He said they couldn't unless I was put on a plan, and he asked which one I was looking at. I said the $30/mo with all the specifics. After pointing out that that is a 'web exclusive', he said (and I quote him): "What most people do is activate with the $50 unlimited plan and then switch to the $30 once the billing month is over". I asked if it would be the same except that I'd be paying $30 more. He said it would (and never mentioned the 100MB 4G limit, this could be interpreted as hiding the truth, because I asked if it would be the same as the $30 month plan, all he said was that this one had unlimited talk-time, but I'll let that go because throtteling -without informing- is common practice amongst carriers). So I paid my $50+tax and walked out happy with my number.

Two days of streaming Google Music and whatnot later, I go back into the store because I had gotten a message stating that I was almost over my 100MB limit. This time he figures out that:

-I can't transfer to the $30/mo plan this or any other month

-If I do go thru a new activation I would have to change my number

-They can't give me more data this month, or give me back my money.

-Had I originally gone to Walmart I would have walked away with my $30 plan, an extra T-Mobile phone, and having spent about the same.

-All they can do is give me a 30% discount on the already expensive store items.

So the store manager messed up (even the second time I came he had to call to figure out the exact details) and because of this I've lost $70, have to change my number, am stuck with 2G for a whole month, and have to go to a store two times more than I should have.

How is this not ripping a customer off? Outright lying! It the same as selling a car and then 'figuring out' that that car will fall apart in 100 miles. It's stealing.
