I just placed an order to switch from AT&T to T-Mobile. I have 3 lines, one of them is already out of contract at AT&T, the other two have about 1 year left.
So to be eligible for ETF reimbursement, I ordered two new phones, and for the third line just a SIM card.
My question is, do I have to trade-in the phones I used for those two numbers at AT&T, or can I send in any AT&T phone.
The two phones used on those two lines are LG G2 (trade-in value $80), and Pantech Renue (non-smart, trade-in value $0). I also have two other AT&T phones sitting around: iPhone 4 (trade-in value $40) and Samsung S3 (trade-in value $60).
I kinda want to keep the G2 (much better phone than S3 imo) and use it on the third line, and trade in the S3 and iPhone (since the Pantech is worthless). But is that allowed?
When I placed the order, the agent said I must trade in the phones used on those two lines. I asked that question in an online chat, and that agent said any AT&T phone should be ok.
The wording on the ETF offer is just "You must trade in one device per ETF reimbursement.", sound like it can be any phone.
Anyone have any experience with this? I don't want mess up and lose my eligibility, since the ETF is quite a bit of money.
