I just upgraded one of my phone lines today from a S3 to the new HTC One M8 at a T-Mobile Store. I decided to pay for the phone in full instead of enrolling in the EIP. After I got home I noticed that I had a text message saying that there was a change in my web plan. After logging in I noticed that I was now enrolled in the 3 GB plan instead of my original 1 GB plan. In addition to that I was also enrolled in the JUMP program.
Apparently the store sales rep decided to make changes to my account without my permission. At no point during the purchase did he mention that he was upgrading my data plan or enrolling me in JUMP. I mean changing my data plan is bad enough, but enrolling me in JUMP? SERIOUSLY! I paid for the phone in FULL. JUMP are for those on EIP and provide no upgrade benefits if I paid for the phone in full. I also get free cell protection coverage through my credit card so even the handset protection feature is useless. I'm surprised the system even allowed him to do this.
I called T-Mobile and the customer service representative was helpful in getting it removed but I'm still angry that I had to even go through this.
This was completely dishonest and unprofessional and I wish to file a formal complaint against this store and employee.
My guess is that he has some kind of sales quota to fill. Let this be a warning to others to check their bill for unauthorized charges.
