I posted this question within an existing discussion at Is T-Mobile no longer supporting Email to Text (SMS)? but since that questions has been marked as "resolved" I thought I'd be better to start a new discussion.
We have a product that relies on us being able to email customers' phones at their @tmomail.net addresses, and have them SMS us back to our email addresses. Lately we've been noticing some problems with this not working. In all the tests we've done with our small list of T-Mobile-subscribing friends and acquaintances, these functions have stopped working properly. Some people seem to be able to send but not receive, and some can receive but not send. Nobody was able to both send and receive.
Has there been a temporary problem with this? Is T-Mobile not supporting this any more? Has something changed and we don't know about it? This is pretty important for us, but of course I don't know any way to actually contact technical support at T-Mobile directly.
Here are the results of the tests we've done so far:
Tester 1: iPhone:
SMS to email: success
email to SMS: fail
Tester 2: iPhone:
SMS to email: fail
email to SMS: success
Tester 3: Samsung Android
email to SMS (1xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net) success
email to SMS (xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net) fail
SMS to email: fail
As you can see, we can't even get consistent results in our own tests. We haven't received any bounces (yet) for any of the failures. They get sent and just disappear.
If anyone can provide any help or insight on this, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot,
- Andrew Clarke.
