I've been a T-mobile postpaid customer for a long time. I wanted to put a new Nexus 5 on the Walmart $30/mo prepaid plan, while keeping my phone number. So, taking my cues from the forum discussions here, I ordered a SIM activation kit from walmart.com, which arrived in the mail today. When I called to activate the SIM, the rep said that the SIM was "cold" -- i.e. hadn't been released for activation. I followed up via chat, and the chat rep sad the same thing. Walmart sent me a SIM that couldn't be activated.
So the immediate question is: what should I do now? Can this cold SIM be thawed without the rigamarole of sending it back and requesting a new one?
More broadly, I know people have had success in switching their plan after ordering an activation kit from walmart.com. Dd I just have the bad luck of receiving a rare "cold" SIM? Or is there something that the reps and I are missing?
Thanks in advance for your help.
