Want to "side-grade". Signed up before JUMP, have paid insurance up until last month.

I'm going to just try to state facts since T-Mobile's plans are so complicated.

I signed up with T-mobile in May of 2013, before the Jump program existed.

I got a Samsung Galaxy S4, made down payment, have made payments of $20.00 per month since purchase.

I also signed up for insurance on the S4, paying $11.99 per month up until December 2013 when I cancelled it (just trying to save money, didn't have any intentions of getting a different phone at the time, and wasn't aware of the consequences associated with trying to upgrade without it).

I got a Nexus 7 for Christmas, and decided today that I wanted to get a Nexus 5 to replace my Galaxy S4.

Went into a store and spoke to a rep. Was told that I was not eligible to get a Nexus 5 unless if I paid off the S4, then purchased the Nexus 5.

Was also told that I was not eligible for JUMP because my S4 was no longer insured (as of 10 days ago).

Am I SOL as far as the stores go? Can I make this work? I just want to give back the Galaxy S4, stop making payments on it, receive a Nexus 5 and start making payments on it. I thought that I was able to do this ever since I signed up. What were the options before JUMP, am I grandfathered into anything? I've been paying more than the monthly JUMP fee in plain only insurance on the S4 for all these months!

Something interesting is that I'm able to make this transaction on the T-mobile website up to the check out page (I haven't tried actually putting my information in and clicking pay since that could put me in a sticky situation if it's not meant to work for someone in my situation). Everything on the bill estimate seems to perfectly reflect what I want. My monthly bill dropped $4.00 to reflect the payment plan on the Nexus 5 vs the GS4, the only thing I'm not sure about is what to do with the GS4 since it's not paid off.

Sorry if this is getting complicated. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you need any clarification on anything, just ask.
