Change prepaid plan UL 60$ to 30$ 5GB

Hello,

is there any way to change my current prepaid plan (UL 60$) to the 30$ prepaid plan with 5GB of data without buy&activate a new SIM? I read on the internet that this might be possible by speaking with a T-Mobile rep on the phone, is that true?
