Overview

 

What are Number Services and what do they provide?

Number Services are 'phone numbers' (such as 211, 311, 411, 511, 711) that you dial directly from the device and may not be available everywhere.

2-1-1: Community Information and Resources

2-1-1 allows access to community information and resources.

 

  1. 211 service is free, but standard airtime charges apply for all calls.
  2. Visit www.211.org for additional information on 211, including a complete list of its availability nationwide.
  3. The following community information and resources are available by dialing 211 from any device:

Head Start, child care, after-school programs, family resource centers, summer camps, recreation programs, mentoring, tutoring, child protective services.

 

 

3-1-1: Non-Emergency Police & Government Assistance

  • The 3-1-1 service is free but standard air time charges will apply for all calls.
  • To add 311 services, contact your local government as this service will be setup by and managed specifically by the local government. T-Mobile does not manage local 311 services.

 

5-1-1: Travel Information

  • The 5-1-1 service is free, but all charges are billed according to rate plan, overage, long distance, and roaming charges.
  • 5-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • 5-1-1 works in any GSM coverage area, regardless of carrier.

7-1-1: Assistance for Hearing or Speech Impaired

  • 7-1-1 connects to a state-provided Communications Assistant who relays a conversation for the hearing or speech impaired.
  • Depending on location, your will hear a TTY tone or the Communications Assistant's voice.
  • If both TTY and voice assistance options are available, you stay on the line to request your preference.
  • 7-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • 7-1-1 works in any GSM coverage area, regardless of carrier.
  • For questions or comments about 7-1-1, contact your state's relay service. The number is listed in the front of any telephone directory or to visit http://www.fcc.gov/guides/711-telecommunications-relay-service.
